Our Award-Nominated Campaign: Boosting Revenue and Conversion Rate

The nominated campaign aimed to significantly boost revenue and improve conversion rate by optimising white goods ad copy and landing pages to match user search queries. Our specific goals from May 2023 until May 2024 were:

  • Achieve an additional €70,000 in annual gross revenue.
  • Increase conversion rate for white goods from 2% to 2.5% within one year.

Our target audience consisted of both genders, aged between 35 and 65 years, living in the Netherlands, and interested in news, politics, home decorations, and travel. Through traffic analysis of search terms, we identified that this audience was primarily interested in cheaper refurbished products and specific energy labels and brands for white goods.

Strategy and Implementation

To achieve our ambitious goals, we implemented a comprehensive strategy leveraging Channable’s dynamic text ads and advanced automation. Our approach consisted of four key pillars:

  1. Keywords Data Analysis: Conducting a full keyword analysis based on historical data to focus on transactional and specific keywords that capture relevant traffic and high-converting searches.
  2. Dynamic Ad Copy: Using Channable’s dynamic text ads to create hyper-specific ad copy based on search queries. For example, a search for “low energy washing machines” would trigger tailored ad copy and landing pages filtered for low-energy washing machines.
  3. Dynamic Landing Pages: Creating landing pages dynamically based on product category pages filtered for specific categories like energy labels or brands, ensuring a seamless user experience from search query to purchase.
  4. Automated Search Terms Optimisation: Implementing scripts to exclude low-performing search terms (those spending over €50 without conversions) and close variants for specific ad groups.

Implementation Steps

  1. Campaign Structure: We structured the campaign into different ad groups based on keyword similarities (Hagakure structure), ensuring each ad group contained no more than 20 keywords in total (exact and phrase match).
  2. Data Analysis: Analysing historical data of white goods keywords to focus on those generating conversions and matching audience interests, using ChatGPT integrated with Google Sheets.
  3. Dynamic Text Ads Templates: Creating templates that generate ad copy matching the user’s Google search query, enhancing relevance and engagement.
  4. Google Ads Scripts: Utilising scripts to automate the exclusion of close variants search terms and those costing more than €50 without conversions.

Creativity and Challenges

Our innovative use of automation and dynamic content creation streamlined the entire process, saving approximately 12 hours of ad creation and 6 hours of monthly optimisation work.

However, along the way, we faced some challenges. “The process of aligning ad copy and landing pages with user search intent required meticulous attention to detail and continuous optimisation. We faced challenges such as system complexity and the need for extensive testing to ensure accuracy and effectiveness. Despite these hurdles, our persistence paid off, resulting in significant performance improvements, making this project both challenging yet rewarding,” said Okan Aytan, our Digital Advertising Consultant.

Results and Impact

The new campaign, running alongside the old one for four weeks, showed a significant performance boost:

  • Revenue Growth: A 21.3% increase in revenue YoY, projecting an annual revenue boost of €75,562.
  • Increased Visibility: A 14% increase in CTR.
  • Improved Conversion Rate: Conversion rate on white goods category pages increased by 19%.

These results validated our strategy and provided a clear approach for future scaling across other campaigns and product categories. We plan to implement this strategy in markets like Belgium, anticipating similar success.
